Owl always love you!

I wanted to show you a fun little sewing project that several of us here in the office have been sewing.
The owl that was made for the Designer Jade 35, is very cute and fun to make. The instruction is here.
Here is the download of the two embroidery designs I created for the beak and the eye area using the Premier+ embroider software. Or course you can sew them instead, if you do not have an embroidery machine.
Why not make your own version!

Here is the original owl. The embroidery on the stomach area is embroidered on water soluble stabilizer.

Rasmus and Carina made owls in fake leather and wool and in shades of brown. It is fun to try different types of fabrics. Those brown owls did turn out very nice too, without any attachments on the stomach. To have options are great and much more fun. Nothing is wrong only different and unique!

Here you can see Rasmus in action! He was cutting around the appliqués. In the background are Maria and Erika, they do too work at the Marketing Department. We are in the sewing studio in Huskvarna. Learning how to make the owls and learning more about the Husqvarna Viking Designer Epic and Husqvarna Viking Designer Jade 35.

Barbara, Maria and I added different lace ribbons to cover the part for the stomach with a zig zag stitch, I think that does look cute as well. A pom pom ribbon made the final touch on the pink owl. I am sure you can come up with more ideas how to decorate the owl.

Here in the left picture below is Maria´s owl and on the shelf it is Nathalie´s owl.

As you can understand we had a few hours of fun sewing as well as learning more about our sewing machines. Win- win.  It was made fairly quickly and was not to complicated either. Hope you will try!

Happy Sewing!

Hi Jill! We have used a small seam allowance, sewing with the presserfoot edge along the edge of the fabrics when we did sew the construction. Add half of an inch max when you cut it out. It will be enough. It can be sewn without adding seam allowance as well, it will only be slightly smaller. Have fun sewing the owl.

Best wishes

Hi! I am in the process of making an owl but I do not see the seam allowance mentioned. Thanks.

Hi Cherryn! The border design is optional. It is found in the marketing designs of the Designer Jade 35. It is also included in an embroidery design collection for the Endless hoop. It is the embroidery design collection number 64, "Italian Romance". When we have been sewing in the office to learn more about our different products, we have used several different ways of creating the stomach area. Some created embroideries, some used fake fur and some of my colleauges used bought laces. I am sure you can find a solution that will make your own owl look fabulous. Happy sewing!

Loved the Owls but I noticed that there were no instructions on how to sew the Border lace, what design did you use and how did you stitch out the lace on the tummy of the Owl.

The owls are cute. Thank you for sharing a download of the design. I was beginning to feel like Husqvarna was completely forgetting about those of us who have invested a good amount of money into other machines and software. The projects and blog were only for the owners of the Jade and Epic and Premier+. It was not too long ago I became the owner of your "new" Ruby Designer machine and the "new" 6D Extra" embroidery software. It was a very small window of time after my purchases when a new Ruby was introduced and I was hard-pressed to find projects for the machine I just purchased. It is wonderful that you can provide newer machines and software, but your customers cannot always afford to upgrade and continued "support", advice, and ideas are important if you wish for me and my fellow Husqvarna owners to continue to "support" Husqvarna. The owl is very cute and my granddaughters will love them. I truly do thank you for giving the download instead of saying it's on the Epic or Jade.
